Relaxation and activities

Halfway between the chic town of Gstaad in the Bernese Oberland and the Freiburger town of Gruyère is the village Château-d'Oex at about 1000m altitude. The holiday region of Pays-d'Enhaut is connected with the Region of Lake Geneva via the Col des Mosses, or with the Montreux - Bernese Oberland - Bahn.

Thanks to its favorable microclimate, Château-d'Oex has developed into a hot air balloon metropolis. Balloon rides with passengers are offered all year round and an international ballooning competition takes place every January.

Many old traditions have been preserved over the years. The Etivaz alpine cheese, which has been loved for centuries, is still made over a wood fire. In Rougemont, several hundred-year-old chalets bear witness to regional folk art.

Children are also well catered for in the Pays-d'Enhaut. Interesting is the themed trail on the life of ants on La Braye or a visit to the mineral and fossil collection in Rougemont.

Exclusive luxe

Gstaad is a village in the Bernese Oberland. It is located at an altitude of 1050m and belongs to the municipality of Saanen. Known as one of the most exclusive winter sports resorts in the world, Gstaad attracts world famous artists and royalty.

Breathtaking view

A must do if you are in the area and you have the money for it because it is pricey. The two cable lifts take you from 1500 to 3000 meters. Once at the top you have a fantastic view from the peakwalk, an alpine coaster and a chairlift that takes you to the glacier.

The lake of Geneva

Montreux is known for its location in the shelter of a 2000 meter high mountain peak, its mild climate, the tropical vegetation on the promenade directly on Lake Geneva and the famous festivals that are held here:

12th century castle

The town is located on top of a hill and is surrounded by a city wall. The 12th-century castle, next to the 13th-century Saint-Théodule church, is the eye-catcher.
